Boxsets

I’ve had a couple people ask about boxsets for the My Blood Approves series, and with the holidays approaching, I was wondering if there would really be an interest in such a thing. I’d have to get them set up myself, so they’d be limited in number.

This is all very preliminary, mind you, but I’m feeling out to see if it would be worth the time and effort. I’m not sure exactly how much such a thing would cost. I think it would probably have to be $25 -30 for four paperbacks, plus shipping and handling. And I would probably add a few things, like bookmarks.

I’m not sure what I would do for a box yet, but I’m sure I would think of something fun. Like maybe a collage. So each box would be one of a kind. That’d be fun, right? Maybe. But then I’d definitely have to limit the numbers. So I don’t know.

Also, I don’t know if any of you would care. So I’m not sure if I will do anything. It all depends on your level of interest. If I think people will be into it, I’ll do it. And then I also need to guage about how many people I think will be into it.

So let me know what you think.

  • I would suggest two editions – a general print edition at a normal price, and a limited edition with personalizations, promotional thingies and a higher price tag for the rabid fan. Check out Amanda Palmer’s blog – http://www.amandapalmer.net for some of the things she does along these lines.

That would be wonderful. I have wanted a few of my friends and family members to read your books but they don’t have a nook or kindle. It would be a good gift idea and I would love to purchase one for myself.

Most of my friends dont have kindle and i have been trying to find a way to get them copies for christmas! a box set would be perfect for my white elephant present this year! i hope you do so!!!

  • I’ve actually thought about doing this myself with my books for next year. I think that if you are going to decorate the boxes, you should make no more than 15 and charge $50 each. That’s a lot of time spent and you should be paid for it!
I know people like physical things, but I was more thinking about bundling the e-books together and then offering them for $7.99. You will make less than if people buy individual books, but I think people will go for it with your books because once you have one, you’re gonna want all of them! 😉 So, they might buy MBA and then also purchase the bundle separately. (See, I told you I’d been thinking about this!)
If you don’t decorate the boxes, but do throw in some bookmarks or stickers along with the books, I think $30 is a good price. And that would be my 2 cents. 🙂

Please! If only you had audio books my mom would be obsessed with your books, but she only listen to them on cd in the car.

I think it is a wonderful idea… especially if you put a personal touch to them (and they are a limited exclusive thing)… but I also think you may have to charge a bit more than you are estimating.

I would love this! I would definitely buy one for myself and I have 3 younger sisters and a mother that would enjoy your books as well so they would make great Christmas presents! This is a great idea! Go for it 😀
